Privacy Policy
Swipr - Smart Gallery Cleaner
Effective date: April 18, 2026 | Last updated: April 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Swipr ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. By using Swipr, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Summary: Swipr is designed to help you review and organize photos and videos on your device. Your media stays on your device unless you explicitly use features that open other apps (e.g. the store). We use third-party services for analytics, crash reporting, optional advertising, and aggregated usage counters - as described below. We do not upload your photos or videos to our servers for storage or training.
1. Information we access on your device
- Photo and video library. The App requests access to your gallery so you can swipe to keep or mark items for app-local "trash," browse albums, find duplicates, and preview media. Processing happens on your device. Album names and asset identifiers may be used locally to remember your scope and decisions.
- Local storage (SQLite database). Swipr stores your review decisions, progress, duplicate-detection data (e.g. perceptual hashes), and related metadata on your device. This data is not automatically uploaded to us as file backups.
- Preferences (SharedPreferences). We store settings such as theme choice, whether a "remove ads" purchase applies, first-launch flags, and a random installation identifier used only to correlate analytics (see §3).
2. Permissions
Depending on your platform and choices, the App may request access to photos and videos. You can revoke permissions in system settings; some features may stop working without them.
3. Third-party services and purposes
Swipr uses the following categories of services. Their providers may process limited technical and usage data according to their own policies.
3.1 Google Firebase
We use Firebase (Google) when the App is configured with valid Firebase project files.
- Firebase Analytics. We log events (e.g. feature usage, screen views) and may set user properties such as theme preference or whether ads were removed. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve it.
- Firebase Crashlytics. We collect crash reports and non-fatal errors (including stack traces and device/platform information) to diagnose and fix issues. In debug builds, collection may be limited or disabled.
Google's privacy information: Google Privacy Policy. Firebase terms and data processing are described in Google's documentation for developers.
3.2 Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
Where ads are shown, we use Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertisements (e.g. banner or native formats). Google may use advertising identifiers and similar technologies, subject to your settings and applicable law.
- User Messaging Platform (UMP). In regions where required, we may show consent or privacy options related to personalized or non-personalized ads before or while using the ads SDK, in line with Google's requirements.
- "Remove ads" purchase. If you purchase or restore a non-consumable "remove ads" product through the store, we store that fact locally and may reflect it in analytics user properties. We do not receive your full payment details; processing is handled by Apple or Google.
See Google's advertising policies and AdMob help center for details on how ads data may be used.
3.3 In-app purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive only what the store provides to the App (e.g. purchase state for "remove ads"), not your full payment card details.
3.4 Other system integrations
- Opening URLs. The App may open links (e.g. store listings, privacy options) in the browser or store app.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information as commonly understood in US state privacy laws in a "data broker" sense.
- We do not use Swipr to upload your photo or video files to our own servers for cloud backup as a core feature of the App.
- We do not require you to create an account in the App for basic use described in this policy.
5. Children
Swipr is not directed at children under the age where parental consent is required for data processing in your region. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.
6. International users
If you use the App outside your home country, data may be processed in countries where our service providers operate, including the United States and the European Union, subject to applicable safeguards and your consent where required (e.g. for ads).
7. Security and retention
We implement reasonable measures to protect data in transit and in accordance with platform guidelines. Locally stored data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its data, subject to OS behavior. Data retained by Firebase or Google is subject to their retention and deletion practices.
8. Your choices
- Adjust or revoke photo/video permissions in system settings.
- Use in-device ad tracking or privacy settings (where available) and any consent dialogs presented for ads.
- Purchase "remove ads" where offered to disable advertising placements in the App.
- Contact us with requests regarding privacy (see §10). Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, delete, or object to certain processing.
- If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of data held about you by our third-party providers (Firebase, Google Ads).
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new effective date at the top. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance unless applicable law requires a different process.
